Why NIAAD?

Nagenda International Academy of Art an Design was founded in 2009 by Dr. Kizito Maria Kasule as a self-sustaining Institution where Youth  can hone their creative and entrepreneurial skills. It is both a knowledge incubation and skill-based academy. NIAAD seeks to address the multifaceted concerns, needs and interests of many artistically talented youth, Performing Artists, Researchers, disadvantaged youth and women.

Vision & Mission

NIAAD is an Academy for superiority in training and creation of self-sustaining graduates who can meet the challenges of the changing times. Its mission is to establish and uphold a continuous and self-sustaining Centre where mediums of artistic and creative expression are learnt and appreciated.

NIAAD emphasizes problem-based learning initiated by the students themselves, studio practice and hands-on approach. Many of our recent graduates have become job creators and not seekers and therefore problem solvers.

NIAAD students also learn and encourage one another through the alumnae as well as international artists, and designers who visit here. Furthermore they enjoy the neighborhood where traditional local artisans are producing bark cloth, wicker baskets, mats or work as blacksmiths, welders etc.
Its location on the edges of Lake Victoria provides a lush backdrop for students, instructors and volunteers who gather at the top-notch facility.

NIAAD staff

NIAAD offers an exciting learning environment led by dedicated and qualified teaching staff with both National and International art practice and teaching experience that help students understand and master creative techniques. Our teaching staff is supported by international visiting artists and designers from Israel, America and Europe.
